The Icy shades of this piece remind me of the moment that the sun begins to break through on a foggy, frosty morning, to sprinkle the water with sparkling "diamonds".

This description of a snowy Egret is edged with difficult cutwork that is meant to have the appearance of immense lace.
Flute, Fronds, and Fragrance
1982-1983
An identical quilt was made for my sister, Consuelo Weitz, who joins me in two-flute "musical moments". The sheet of music is embroidered, with a three-dimensional lame flute placed before it. Roses are formed using both sides of washable velvet fabric. A "frosted glass" bud vase holds roses, fern fronds, and lily of the valley, which appear again in the inner border.

Palouse Puzzle
1991-1992
A jig-saw puzzle of the Terrain 1 Call "home", the Palouse farmland during the harvest season, this quilt is dedicated to my dad, Howard Schoepflin, of Viola, Idaho. He is likely the operator of the combine in my quilt.
Shadow Silhouettes
1986-1987
Fascination with silhouette art and illustration let to this quilt in exclusive black and white. I included the "shadow" element by using varieties and graduations of print fabrics. I often gazed from our kitchen window in West Virginia at the rays of the sunrise sifting through the forest. more...
Mt. Shuksan - Shalom
1983-1984
Mt. Shuksan reflects into Picture Lake in the North Cascades National Park. It is one of the most photographed mountains, appearing in many scenic calendars. Shalom is a comprehensive Hebrew word meaning peace, harmony, well-being, and totality: a word often used to express the ideal state of life.
Shattering Stars

The blocks for this quilt were kept in the car to applique exclusively during times that i had to wait my son's bus from school. Each day I could sew down two, or three little pieces of the design.
United we Stand
1985 - 1986
Designed and made in celebration of the Statue of liberty centennial, this quilt utilizes the soft green shades, combined with blue as the chosen color scheme. The colors parallel the greens of our lands and the blues of our waters and skies. The design of the pieced blocks is based on the idea of standing dominoes, representing our need for giving support to another. More...
Woven Vines
1994 - 1995
Although three different fabrics were purchased by the committee for our Genesee Challenge Project, we were asked to select a plain brown bag containing only one of the fabrics from the pile of bags on the table. We were to use that fabric, along with no more than four fabrics. More...
